KUCHING, Feb 28: The project to widen Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa from Mile 8 to G3 roundabout in Kota Samarahan into four lanes that will cost RM180 million is expected to be completed in September this year.
According to a news report by TVS, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the project will be able to help in reducing the traffic congestion towards Kota Sentosa from Kota Samarahan.
“I was briefed by the contractor that the project is going well and is expected to be completed earlier than scheduled.
“I thank the contractor for solving this issue and I hope it will be completed by September 2023,” he told the media during a visit to the project site yesterday (Feb 27).
On the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s scheduled visit to drive along the Pan Borneo Highway in September, Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, believes it will give His Majesty a clearer picture of the economic situation in Sarawak.
“We are very pleased with His Majesty’s desire to travel along the Pan Borneo Highway where he can experience the lives of people in Sarawak.
“At the same time, it will also allow him the opportunity to explore Sarawak in terms of economy, culture and surrounding environment,” he added.
On Feb 13, 2023, Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his desire to drive along the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak and Sabah so that he can get to know the people in the interior of Bumi Kenyalang (Sarawak) and Negeri di Bawah Bayu (Sabah) better.
With that, a tour programme is being planned by Istana Negara in collaboration with the Federal government as well as the Sarawak and Sabah governments to coincide with the Malaysia Day celebration.
