Two persons fined RM1,000 for violating EMCO

SIBU, March 3: A 34-year-old unemployed man and a 36-year-old labourer became the first in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme to be compounded RM1,000 each for defying the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) yesterday.

The EMCO is in force in the area from Feb 27 to March 12.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the two were caught loitering at the gate of a mosque in the area at 5.30pm.


“They should be at home during this period but they were instead found hanging around aimlessly,” he said.

Stanley added the duo failed provide good reasons to the EMCO Task Force team why they were at the scene

They were fined under Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 1988. — DayakDaily
