Two diners among 47 compounded for Covid-19 SOPs violations

KUCHING, July 2: Two individuals dining-in at a restaurant were among the 47 being issued with compound notices by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) throughout the State for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), loitering in public places after 12am saw the most compounds issued with a total of 11 compounds, followed by failure to wear face mask (eight) and failure to scan the MySejahtera application (eight).

Among others, seven individuals were also compounded by the police for fishing in public places, while four compound notices were issued for carrying passengers exceeding the limit in one vehicle.


Other SOPs violation compounded by the police involves cross-district without permit (three), operating a premises that is not allowed for operation (two), including one compound each for failure to provide body temperature scanner and failure to comply with 30 per cent of attendance limit.

As of today, a total of 8,627 compound notices have been issued by the police since March 18, 2020.

Meanwhile, the committee said the Local Government and Housing Ministry has issued a total of seven compounds through its local government authority (PBT) in Bintulu (three), Miri (three) and Sarikei (one).

Five compound notices were issued against five individuals who did not comply with the Covid-19 SOPs for not wearing face mask, followed by one compound each for operating over the time limit and failure to update or incomplete registration book.

This brings the total cumulative number of compounds issued by the PBT since Feb 2021 until today to 1,209 compounds. — DayakDaily
