BETONG, May 21: A 32-year-old local man and an Indonesian man were killed after their truck, carrying an excavator, crashed into a 30-metre deep ditch at Jalan Engkari Lemanak near Sungai Kesit here last night.
According to a press release, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 7.29pm on Monday (May 20) and swiftly mobilised a team from the Betong Station to the location.
Upon arrival, the firefighters found that the victims had already been retrieved by workers from a nearby logging camp.
No rescue operation was needed. After firefighters gathered information of the incident and confirmed the victims’ identities, the victims’ bodies were handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
