Bomba director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad added that the now-vacant position as the Sarawak Bomba director will be taken over by Bomba Sarawak deputy director Tiong Ling Hii as acting director.

“He (Tiong Ling Hii) will take over as acting director first as we are in the process of promoting 11 officers of Grade KB54.

“We will wait for confirmation of this promotion first, then we will send the paperwork to the Public Service Department (JPA) that there will be 11 officers promoted before we fill in the vacancy in Sarawak,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the Bomba Sarawak Excellent Service Awards 2023 ceremony, which saw 92 officers and members of the department awarded yesterday.

Meanwhile, Khirudin described his six years as Bomba Sarawak director as an interesting experience in his efforts to raise fire awareness among the community.

“I am thankful to the media for stressing on issues related to fire safety and prevention,” he said. — DayakDaily
