Toh Puan Fauziah’s life journey blossoms in ‘Mawar Astana – Mekar di Jiwa’

KUCHING, Aug 18: Mawar Astana – Mekar di Jiwa chronicles the life journey of Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi as a wife, mother and prominent woman figure, highlighting her strength, grace and resilience through the various phases of her life.

The book, launched at the Banquet Hall of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUNS) Complex on Monday (Aug 17), documents the experiences, values and contributions of the wife of Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

More than a biography, the publication serves as a documentation of Fauziah’s personal journey and the roles she has played throughout her life, with the stories and experiences captured in the book intended to inspire present and future generations.

According to a statement from Astana Sarawak, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah performed the symbolic launch of Mawar Astana – Mekar di Jiwa, witnessed by Wan Junaidi and Fauziah.

Earlier, chief executive officer of Suara Sarawak and The New Sarawak Tribune, Dato Dr Jeniri Amir, who served as the book’s editor, spoke on the publication process and significance of the work.

Copies of the book were subsequently presented to the Wan Junaidi and Fauziah as a symbolic mark of its official publication.

Guests were also shown a special video documenting Fauziah’s life journey, while an interactive e-book version of the publication was introduced, featuring page-flipping, audio, chapter navigation and access across multiple devices.

A poignant highlight of the ceremony was the recital of A Rose in My Life Garden, a poem written by Fauziah’s daughter, Sharifah Nong-Jasima.

The poem conveyed a daughter’s love, memories and appreciation for her mother, adding an intimate dimension to the celebration of Toh Puan’s life and legacy.

The event was further enlivened by cultural and musical performances by the Sarawak P. Ramlee Fan Club, The Prodigy All Women Orchestra, the Angklung Ensemble of SK (Agama) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan Kuching, Karya Terindah Performing Arts and local artistes.

The publication ultimately seeks to preserve Fauziah’s journey, including the values of family, love, perseverance and service, as part of Sarawak’s heritage for future generations.

Before leaving, Fauziah signed several special copies of the book, which were distributed to guests as commemorative keepsakes.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also expressed their appreciation to all those involved in producing the book and organising its launch.

The launch was attended by Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Toh Puan Datin Patinggi Hayati Ahmat, Datin Patinggi Lorna Enan Muloon Chan, Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar, Dato Baduyah Bujang, deputy ministers, senior government officials and other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
