KUCHING, Oct 22:Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president claims that Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak, which has been bankrupt in ideas, can only go for negative criticism.

Narrating the various achievements of the Sarawak government such as the setting up of Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) which declared profit of RM1.5 billion for 2021, hydrogen and carbon-capture initiatives, and the soon-to-be set up sovereign wealth fund, Dr Sim Kui Hian who is also Sarawak Deputy Premier said DAP has run out of ideas of what to do.

“Have you ever heard of DAP mentioning any of these, of how to make us rich? No, they told us we will go bankrupt. They told us prices of things are going up, (that there will be) inflation.

“They have been bankrupt of ideas, because they don’t know what to do. They are bankrupt of ideas,” he said during the launch of SUPP NewBees and Puteri wings at the party headquarters here today.

He was referring to DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng’s remarks in 2019 saying Sarawak would be bankrupt within three years. Despite being an old issue, it has been brought up recently following the 15th General Election (GE15) which polls on Nov 19.

Calling on the young members to go out and vote on Nov 19, Dr Sim urged them to grab this opportunity so that Sarawakians may be strongly represented in the Parliament.

He said it will be the first time for Sarawak to contest on its own banner with the hope to run Sarawak in its own way to make a difference.

“Have you heard them talking about hydrogen? Have you heard them talk about selling electricity for more than RM1 to Singapore?

“They said we are bankrupt. That is why they take all donation boxes out to get everyone to donate. Don’t elect people who are bankrupt of ideas,” he added.

Also present were SUPP deputy president Dato Sri Dr Richard Riot Jaem, deputy president Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, secretary general Datuk Sebastian Ting, youth chief Michael Tiang, women chief Kho Teck Wan, Kota Sentosa branch chief Wilfred Yap, Bintulu branch chief Johnny Pang, Stakan chief Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok and Dudong branch chief Wong Ching Yong. — DayakDaily
