KUCHING, July 10: Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has urged the Premier of Sarawak’s Office to assist in appointing a Pemanca in his constituency so that the problems of the local community can be resolved immediately.

He said Dudong has a large population and is among the largest constituencies. As a result, it is not easy to organise large-scale courses for community leaders.

“Previously, the district and regional offices, as well as the Premier of Sarawak’s Office, had held courses or dialogue sessions from time to time to encourage the communication process with community leaders.

“Such a programme is needed to ensure that bilateral communication between the two parties remains strong to address the people’s issues such as the rising cost of living and understand the problems faced by the community leaders.

“Any challenges or problems need to be resolved immediately to deliver accurate information to the community,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday (July 9).

He also mentioned that there are over 200 longhouses in Dudong, and it is important for every Tuai Rumah to work closely with the village development and security committee (JKKK).

“If the locals face an unresolved problem, they can seek help from the Penghulu, Pemanca and Temenggong, as well as the district office.

“I believe, if each individual practices good courtesy and tolerance towards each other, any dispute or problem can be resolved in a good way.

“However, if we are selfish and egoistic in finding a solution, then the problem will not be solved, and the situation will worsen,” he added.

He also reminded that Tuai Rumah who have become Opposition party members could not arbitrarily prohibit government representatives from entering their longhouses or carry out attacks against them without a negotiation process.

Meanwhile, he urged all residents to report any problems encountered to officers at the Dudong Community Service Centre so that assistance can be extended and provide exposure to service centre officers on the actual situation facing the people. — DayakDaily
