Tiang believes assistant minister role would give him more resources to rebuild Pelawan

KUCHING, Dec 30: Newly appointed Assistant Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang believes his new role would give him more resources to achieve his pledges in his manifesto to rebuild Pelawan constituency.

Describing his appointment as a new mission, duty and responsibility, Tiang expressed confidence he can serve better serve his Pelawan constituency.

“I am especially humbled by this appointment. This is a new platform for me to serve the people.


“I want to thank our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for putting his trust and confidence in me by appointing me as Assistant Minister II for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

“I also want to thank the Pelawan voters. It is because of their mandate that now I have this privilege and honour to serve on this new platform,” he said in a statement today. 

He also thanked Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian for giving him this opportunity to learn and help him, especially in this ministry.

The Pelawan assemblyman added that he welcomed all kinds of constructive suggestions from the public so that he could learn and understand more on issues related to the people.

Tiang pledged to serve the people with full dedication and to continue to fight for Sarawak’s interests and rights.

“I truly hope that for the coming year, all of us in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) can bring changes and more development especially to my constituency,” he said.

Tiang is among the 11 new faces appointed as assistant ministers in the GPS-led government announced by Abang Johari today. 

The new Cabinet will have 10 full ministers and 26 assistant ministers which comprises a mixture of experienced and new faces and professionals with representation from throughout the State as part of the renewal process and to deliver the best and most efficient level of service to the people. — DayakDaily
