KUCHING, July 25: Several roads in Kuching city will be temporarily closed tomorrow evening (July 26) for the 2024 Lion Dance Parade Festival, as announced by Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah.
The parade will commence at 7pm and conclude at 10pm, starting from the Sri Aman roundabout at the Padungan Arch and ending at the Kuching Waterfront.
The event will feature 29 contingents and involve more than 500 participants.
The parade route will cover Padungan Road, Tunku Abdul Rahman Road, and Main Bazaar Road, culminating at the Kuching Waterfront.
To ensure the smooth running of the parade, the Kuching District Police Headquarters will implement road closures and diversions around the parade route and the main stage area.
These measures will begin tomorrow from 6pm until the completion of the event.
The necessity for road closures and diversions will be assessed based on current traffic conditions by the traffic police officers on duty.
“The public is advised to follow the traffic signs and instructions from police officers to avoid any inconvenience.
“Additionally, parking vehicles on the road shoulders, which may cause traffic congestion, is strictly prohibited.
The cooperation of the public is highly appreciated to ensure the success of this event,” Ahsmon was quoted as saying.
The public is further advised to park their vehicles at the Aurora Plaza parking lot, Saujana Building, Top Spot parking lot, Sarawak Plaza parking lot, Medan Pelita Building, and Plaza Merdeka parking lot. — DayakDaily
