KUCHING, Oct 4: The Some Shak Lung Kung Temple management committee has distributed 6,800 10kg-bags of rice to the needy, regardless of race or religion, during a charity event in Miri on Oct 2, 2022.

According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, stated that Sarawakians will help people in need, despite coming from different religious and racial backgrounds.

“Those present to receive this assistance are made up of needy people of various religions, races, and cultures. This is our way of life in Sarawak.

“Our government truly practises religious freedom in Sarawak, and we can see this only in Sarawak.

“I hope the people will appreciate all of these very good policies,” Lee said on Sunday (Oct 2) during the ‘Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) Fund Assistance Cheque Presentation and Rice Distribution Ceremony’ organised by the Some Shak Lung Kung Temple management committee.

Furthermore, Unifor also handed over funds totaling RM2.5 million to two associations during the ceremony, with RM800,000 going to the Gurdwara Sahib Miri and RM1.7 million to Some Shak Lung Kung Temple for temple repairs and upgrades.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts and Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew and Unifor director Rihard Lon. — DayakDaily
