“This programme to assist delivery riders in order for them to continue their services and this will also help to boost the country’s economy while we are still facing the threat of Covid-19,” he said in a press release today.

Applicants will need to register with any of the existing e-hailing delivery companies and adhere to the terms and conditions set up by these companies.

This offer is open to all registered riders through all legitimate e-hailing delivery platforms such as Grab, Foodpanda, Bungkusit, Lalamove, MyMakan, Zeptoekpress and Mrspeedy.

Wan Junaidi pointed out that Tekun Nasional is currently taking proactive steps in assisting delivery delivery riders affected by the Covid-19 pandemic through its Tekun Mobilepreneur programme.

Under the Tekun Mobilepreneur 1.0 financing scheme introduced in April 2020 until June 23, he said that it offered a special interest free financing facility up to RM2,000.

“Allocated for the first 500 delivery riders, currently some 211 applications have been approved up until June 23, with the total value of RM394,000.

“The special financing scheme is to help local delivery riders in the repairs of their motorcycles and to provide as a round capital for them to continue their work,” he explained.

The Tekun Mobilepreneur programme, he added, was one of the many efforts made by the federal government through the Penjana fund.
