“Tanjung Embang is being developed as a major economic growth area for Kuching. Plans include strategic LNG infrastructure, Kuching Deep-Sea Port and industrial parks.

“The development aims to attract high-value industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, food processing and intelligent machinery,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUS) complex today.

A proposed New Kuching International Airport will also form part of the wider development. It is planned to handle 15 million passengers annually in its initial phase.

The airport is expected to improve regional and international connectivity, increase passenger and cargo movement and strengthen Sarawak’s position as a regional hub for tourism, trade and investment. — DayakDaily
