He said the RM500 assistance for retired members of the Sarawak Civil Service was a token of appreciation for their years of service and contributions to the State.

“Their contributions will always be remembered,” he said of the initiative, which is expected to benefit approximately 10,141 retirees, involving an estimated expenditure of RM5.1 million.

Abang Johari also acknowledged the role played by media practitioners in disseminating information and news professionally, noting that their work had a significant impact on the State’s socio-economic development.

“As a token of appreciation for their contributions, the GPS government will provide a one-off incentive of RM700 per person to private media practitioners registered with six media associations in Sarawak,” he said.

The announcement underscores the State government’s recognition of the contributions made by both retired public servants and members of the media.

He hoped the various forms of assistance and recognition would encourage recipients to continue contributing to Sarawak’s progress and the well-being of its people. — DayakDaily
