Suspected drunk damages ambulance, assaults medical officer

KUCHING, April 12: An individual believed to be drunk obstructed an ambulance and later broke the ambulance’s mirror at Satok area late yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened around 6pm when the ambulance was moving towards Kampung Lintang and was stopped by the suspect.


It was said that the suspect attempted to stop the ambulance and later broke the ambulance’s mirror while shouting.

The medical officer in the ambulance tried to help the suspect but was assaulted by the suspect who also tore the medical officer’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the incident.

The medical officer suffered minor injuries. The suspect later fled the scene.

Police acted immediately upon receiving notification of the incident and managed to arrest the suspect last night.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 323, 427 and 186 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
