SIBU, April 8: Sibu Rural District Council has decided to cancel its Ramadan Bazaar this year which was supposed to be held at Pasar Ria Sibujaya.

Chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai in a statement today revealed the decision was made due to the surge of Covid -19 cases in the State.

However those who want to operate a stall inside their house compound during this period are allowed to do so, subject to strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Those who operate inside their house compound are allowed subject to conditions stated in the application form. It is our joint responsibility as citizens to strictly comply with the current SOPs and the directives during the CMCO (Conditional Movement Control Order) period,” he said.

Among the SOPs that the operators and food handlers need to follow are to get swab tests before operating their stall, wear face masks, and provide a MySejahtera QR code or log book for customers to register their details. They are also required to provide hand sanitiser.

Sempurai said traders are encouraged to operate online or use drive-thru for the convenience of customers. — DayakDaily
