BINTULU, June 26: A special code mechanism will be used to register stateless persons so that they may receive the Covid-19 vaccination as they are also eligible for free vaccination under the State’s immunisation drive despite lacking identity papers.

Bintulu Division Health officer Dr Melvin Chung disclosed that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has come up with a special code mechanism to enable individuals without proper identification documents to register in order to receive the vaccine shots.

“The MOH has liaised with the Sarawak government on this matter and taken the approach to coordinate the code for each division according to the respective districts.

“The stateless individuals can go to any healthcare facility or the nearest District Office to register themselves with their name and date of birth,” he told Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) when met during the Covid-19 vaccine outreach programme at Rumah Sating Bundan here yesterday.

Dr Chung pointed out that registration can also be done through the MySejahtera app as only mobile numbers are required, while for foreigners, they can register with their passports.

Touching on vaccination matters, he advised people to ensure that they are not sick or havve any symptoms before heading to their vaccine appointment.

“If they are feeling unwell on the day of vaccination, they must inform the staff at the registration counter or update their health status through the MySejahtera app.

“This is to prevent the recurrence of an incident that occurred at Dinner World Bintulu PPV (vaccination centre) recently,” he said.
