KUCHING, Feb 27: Public Service Commission (SPA) director-general Tan Sri Zainal Rahim Seman says it has representatives from Sarawak and Sabah to manage the interview process for local candidates.
According to Zainal, this is because they are more knowledgeable about the ins-and-outs and affairs of their respective regions.
“We also practise open principles in hiring candidates for public office by selecting only the best candidates from both Sarawak and Sabah.
“We are very confident that by doing this, it will attract more young people to join the public service,” he told reporters when met after launching the SPA Interview Centre in UTC Kuching, here today.
On the SPA Interview Centres in Sarawak, he said three such centres have been opened, namely in Kuching, Sibu and Miri, to give easier access to those interested in applying for employment in the public sector.
He also said among other improvements provided by SPA to facilitate the recruitment process are online interviews for those outside of the city and in rural areas, especially those without transportation.
“They can also attend interviews and exams at home,” he added.
Meanwhile, when asked about his courtesy visit to Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg which will be held later today, Zainal said in addition to obtaining the Premier’s view to further strengthen the country’s public service sector, he will also brief the Premier on the federal SPA’s experience in managing human resources. — DayakDaily
