KUCHING, Feb 16: A missing two-year-old boy has been found safe, well and in good health after spending nearly 24 hours alone in a forest near his home in Batu Perigi Quarry, Jalan Kampung Perigi in Sematan.
According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak Operations assistant director Henderi Ardimansyah, the boy was found alive at about 1pm by the Bomba sniffer dog Daisy, which joined the search on the second day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
“The boy is healthy and fit, except for some scratches here and there, but he has no severe injuries.
“The boy will be referred to the hospital for a check-up,” he said in a brief report in a media group today.
The boy’s father was seen in a short video clip breaking down in tears as he embraced his son, while his grandmother looked on.
A seven-member team from the Bomba Lundu Station headed by Pathi Samsudin including its K9 Unit, the police, Civil Defence Force (APM) and local residents were involved in the search, which was expanded to a 3km radius today.
It was reported that the toddler Muhammad Rayyan Bujang Abdul Qayyum or more affectionately called ‘Bujang’ went missing after he was last seen playing outside a hut behind the quarry’s worker house yesterday (Feb 15). — DayakDaily
