SEBUYAU, Oct 26: The construction of the new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Ladong building is expected to be completed on Aug 22, 2022.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Infrastructure and Port Development Assistant Minister and Sebuyau assemblyman Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the project which costs RM8.6 million involved building six classrooms and eight units of teachers’ houses and other facilities at the school.
According to him, the development of the project was supposed to be completed on May 6 this year, but experienced delays due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
“This project started on Nov 7, 2019, but the construction was affected after the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and the project period was extended and is expected to be completed by Aug 22, 2022.
“This new school is to replace the old building which is located too close to the banks of Sungai Batang Sadong and often faces soil erosion and floods,” he said after visiting the SK Sungai Ladong construction site in Kampung Sungai Ladong here yesterday (Oct 25).
He added that upon completion, the new building will provide benefits and conducive learning facilities to students and teachers. — DayakDaily
