SONG, Oct 7: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Temalat has entered a new chapter with the completion of a major redevelopment featuring a four-storey administration block, separate boys’ and girls’ hostels and staff quarters under the Proposed Redevelopment of Dilapidated Schools in Sarawak Using the RM1 Billion Allocation (Phase 2), Package 10.
Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) Director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris said the project provides more comfortable and conducive facilities for the school community.
“JKR Sarawak remains open to assisting schools as part of its social responsibility, while strengthening cooperation between the department and the local community,” he said when officiating the handover ceremony for the completed project today.
The project, completed on Sept 18, comprised demolition and construction works complete with mechanical and electrical systems, including a four-storey administration block, two Type C twin quarters blocks, and separate boys’ and girls’ hostel blocks with a capacity of 30 occupants each.
It also included two pump houses, including a smaller one, and four elevated water tank platforms, along with external works such as walkways and a drainage system.
Notice boards, whiteboards, science room furniture and workspace partitions for the administration office were also supplied and installed.
Cassidy also expressed appreciation to JKR Kapit Division and the contractor for their commitment and cooperation in completing the project and handing it over to the school. — DayakDaily
