Six new suspected coronavirus cases recorded in Sarawak

KUCHING, Feb 15: Sarawak recorded six new suspected coronavirus (Covid-19) cases today.

The State Disaster Managemeent Committee, in a statement today, informed that five new patients under investigation (PUI) cases were being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one in Sibu Hospital.

This brought the total number of PUI cases in Sarawak from Jan 10 until Feb 13 to 91 cases, comprising 70 Malaysians, 18 Chinese nationals, one Thai, one Indonesian and one Canadian.

Of the total, 79 have tested negative while 12 cases were still awaiting laboratory test result.

As of 12 noon yesterday (Feb 14), the Health Department had also screened 4,971 arrivals at various airports, land and sea entry points statewide.

The Health Department advised those who had fallen sick especially with symptoms of fever, coughing and breathing difficulty within 14 days after returning from China to seek immediate medical treatment.

They must inform the doctors treating them of their travel history.

All doctors are required to report any suspected cases to the nearest respective divisional or district Health Department using the notification form or they can send email to the state Health Department Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre at cprc_sarawak.gov.my or contact 082-443248. ā€”DayakDaily
