Covid-19: No new cases or fatalities recorded in Sarawak

KUCHING, Aug 11: No new Covid-19 positive cases or fatalities were recorded in Sarawak today, leaving the total number of cases at 681 and 19 respectively.

However, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas cautioned that the 10 existing clusters involving 70 cases were still active in the state.

The 10 clusters comprise the Engineering Company Cluster (8), Mambong Cluster (7), Medical Centre Cluster (3), Jupiter Cluster (3), Stutong Market Cluster (7), Kuching Jetty Cluster (2), Sentosa Cluster (31), Melbourne PUI Cluster (3), Kuching Construction Company Cluster (2) and Satok Market Cluster (4).

“Three patients from Kuching (2) and Samarahan (1) have recovered and discharged from Sarawak General Hospital. With the recoveries, the cumulative number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 in Sarawak are 659 people or 96.77 per cent of total cases.

“Three patients are still receiving treatment at medical facilities statewide,” he said at a press conference today.

He also revealed that there were 43 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and one is still awaiting laboratory results.

Meanwhile, Uggah pointed that Kuching and Serian remains at yellow zones with one local case each in the last 14 days.—DayakDaily
