KUCHING, Nov 13: The Sarawak government, through the Sarikei Division Agriculture Department, has approved an allocation to upgrade six farm roads in longhouses around the Meradong District.

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Meradong incumbent Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the farm roads are important for the residents in the nearby longhouses to carry out their agricultural activities.

“The state government is currently focusing on agricultural development in rural areas to ensure that no farmers are left behind in terms of development,” he said.

Ding added the upgrading of these roads is one of the government’s initiatives to strengthen development in rural areas.

He also hoped that local farmers would appreciate the efforts made by the government to further develop their produce in order to get a steady income.

The six upgraded farm roads are Jalan Ladang Rumah Keroh, Jalan Ladang Rumah Adiah, Jalan Ladang Sg. Stabau, Jalan Ladang Rumah Ranggi, Jalan Ladang Rumah Tunjang and Jalan Ladang Rumah Bala. — DayakDaily
