KUCHING, Nov 13: KMC flat tenants are urged to send in their completed application forms with supporting documents for the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) office by Nov 15.

MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has given the green light to the council to submit applications from KMC flats in bulk.

He said about 500 tenants at KMC flats have been given the application forms last week, but the council has only received about 50 completed forms as of today.

Wee thus urged for those eligible and in need of the assistance to quickly fill up the forms and prepare the documents before the due date.

Should there be any inquiries regarding the application process, the MBKS office can be reached at 082-354200 or 082-525600 with extensions to 6255 or 6266.

“For those who qualify for the assistance, they will receive RM200 every month for three years or 36 months.

“So, if you, yourself or any of your friends and families are living at KMC flats and are in need of some aid, do apply.

“But of course, not all applications will be approved. There is a selection committee who will decide the parties who will be selected,” said Wee during his Facebook live session today.

To be qualified for SRAS, one must be aged 21 and above, is a Malaysian citizen and permanent resident in Sarawak and possesses a MyKad with the “K” status.

He or she must be a married single father or mother with at least one child living under the same household, and with a monthly household income of not more than RM2,131.

Priority will be given to people with disabilities or special needs (OKU).
