RM450,000 to upgrade six Meradong school facilities, boost learning environment

BINTANGOR, Oct 6: Six schools in Meradong are set for a RM450,000 facilities boost, with upgrades targeting classrooms, parking areas, fencing, electrical systems, and multipurpose and information and communication technology (ICT) facilities.

Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the allocation, provided by the Sarawak government through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), reflected its continued focus on improving facilities in rural schools.

He said the largest allocation of RM200,000 was for the construction of a new preschool classroom building at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Su Ming.

“Besides that, SJK Tanah Putih received RM50,000 to build a parking facility, while Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Rentap was allocated RM50,000 to upgrade its multipurpose hall as well as ICT room,” he said after witnessing the handover of site approval for RTP projects in Meradong here today, according to a report by TVS.

Ding said SJK Yong Kwong also received RM50,000 to improve and enhance the safety of its school fencing.

Meanwhile, SJK Yong Cheng received RM50,000 for electrical rewiring works to ensure its electrical system was in better and safer condition.

Another RM50,000 was allocated to SJK Tong Hua to upgrade its fencing and provide a safer environment for the school community.

He said the upgrades were expected to benefit students, teachers and school staff while creating a safer and more comfortable school environment.

Ding said the Sarawak government would continue to address basic education needs in rural areas as part of efforts to promote balanced and sustainable education development.— DayakDaily
