Sia Sitok Sarawak campaigns rack up RM6.5 mln in sales in 2022 with 800 tour packages sold

KUCHING, Nov 30: Sia Sitok Sarawak (SSS) campaigns recorded total sales of RM6.5 million this year.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah revealed that sales were generated from 800 tour packages sold which had benefited 6,406 visitors with 15,277 room nights booked through SSS Accommodation.


“My ministry through Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has introduced travel incentives through SSS campaigns and SSSA campaigns to promote domestic intra-state travel.

“Besides, Visitor Incentive Packages (VIPs) as well as the Sia Sitok Sarawak Plus campaign were also introduced in collaboration between STB, Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASWings to promote interstate travel,” he told the august House during his winding-up speech for the ministry today.

For 2022, Abdul Karim added, the ministry has so far supported a total of 123 events and festivals throughout Sarawak with grants totalling RM29,310,549.

“My ministry with the collaboration of other agencies and tourism industry players have successfully supported many tourism events and festivals through event support grants.

“The events will attract more inbound visitors and generate economic spin-offs for the local community and capture international media attention,” he said.

Among the events he highlighted were Sarawak’s iconic Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), Borneo Jazz in Miri, Borneo Music Festival, Queen Tribute Concert, Sibu Tribal Music Festival, Kuching Jazz Festival, Miri Country Music Festival, Kuching Marathon, Spartan Race, Borneo Trail Classic, Dekafit, 8th Edition of the Sarawak International Dragon Boat Race, Sarawak Regatta, Travel Agents Federation of India (Tafi) Convention 2022, Miss Tourism International World Final.

Grants approved included those for creative industries such as films, telemovies, documentaries, music and music videos. — DayakDaily
