KUCHING, April 25: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) is stepping up its efforts to ensure that the lights stay on during this coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, said Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

During a press conference following a breaking of fast event this evening held at Masjid Darul Hana, Julaihi assured the public that utility providers under his purview, including SEB, are making the necessary additional preparations for the celebration.

“The people can be assured of quick action and efficient service delivery, and SEB has prepared for this by adding manpower as part of their commitment to keeping the lights on during this Raya celebration.

“This is SEB’s normal practice for all festive seasons to ensure everyone can enjoy their respective celebrations joyfully,” he said.

Meanwhile, SEB group chief executive officer (CEO) Datu Sharbini Suhaili elaborated that SEB has set up contingency measures to ensure system stability and minimise the risk of supply interruptions.

“We are adding manpower to the teams that will be deployed for quick restoration if an outage occurs.

“The emphasis is to restore supply to our customers in the safest and fastest possible time.

“As we speak, efforts are being taken to ensure our supply systems are operating well, and we’ll also have our generator sets ready for deployment if required,” Sharbini said.

Sharbini also asked for the public’s cooperation to be vigilant and report suspicious activities nearby electrical facilities within their vicinity, as cable theft and vandalism of these facilities are dangerous crimes which can cause supply disruptions and public inconvenience.

Furthermore, the public can report suspicious activities by calling SEB’s Customer Care Centre at 1300-88-3111 or using SEB’s mobile app ‘SEBcares’ to report outages. — DayakDaily
