SDMC: Latest two Covid-19 fatalities had no known comorbidities

KUCHING, March 19: Sarawak’s latest two fatalities due to Covid-19 were reported to have no records of comorbidity while previous fatal cases did.

According to the reports by State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Case Number 95 yesterday (March 18) and Case Number 96 today did not have coexisting medical conditions like hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases, chronic liver diseases, gout or other underlying illnesses.

Case 95 was a female Sarawakian from Sibu, aged 58, who experienced Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, coughs, loss of smell and taste, and fatigue when she was detected positive on Feb 21.

Her condition deteriorated while receiving treatment and she was confirmed to have died on March 17.

Meanwhile, Case 96 who was a 55-year-old male Sarawakian from Sibu was found positive of Covid-19 on Feb 27.

When he was still in the Sibu Hospital, his health condition deteriorated before he passed away yesterday (March 18).

As of today, Sarawak recorded a total of 96 casualties due to Coronavirus where Sibu registered the highest figure of 60 death cases.

Kuching is next in line with 14 deaths, followed by Miri (7), Bintulu (6), Samarahan (4), Kapit (2), Limbang (1), Sri Aman (1) and Betong (1). —DayakDaily
