KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10: The Ministry of Health (MOH) is still awaiting the official post-mortem report on the five victims killed in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the ministry would wait for official confirmation before providing further details on the post-mortem findings.
“As soon as we receive everything officially, Datuk DG (Health director-general) will provide an explanation.
“Although we have heard about it, we have yet to receive anything official,” he told reporters after the opening ceremony of the 17th ASEAN Health Ministers’ Meeting (AHMM) here today.
Also present were MOH secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abdul Wahab.
Meanwhile, Dr Mahathar said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah had outlined the procedures and processes related to the post-mortems in a statement yesterday.
However, he said the ministry was still awaiting further official updates on the matter.
Yesterday, Mohamad Zainal confirmed that the bodies of all five victims had been successfully recovered from the crash site and transported from Long Lellang to Miri for post-mortems and other related procedures. — Bernama
