Sarikei longhouse cluster becomes 100th active cluster in Sarawak

KUCHING, July 10: A new longhouse cluster in Sarikei, with so far 75 confirmed cases, has become the 100th active Covid-19 cluster in Sarawak as of today.

According to the reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the cluster involved a longhouse located at Sungai Setajam, Jalan Bulat in Sarikei, thus  named as Sungai Setajam Cluster.


A total of 184 individuals were screened where 75 individuals tested positive for Covid-19, including the index case, and the remaining 109 individuals were negative.

Of the 75 positive cases, SDMC stressed that 63 cases were reported today, which contributed to the total of 65 cases registered in Sarikei District on this day.

The committee assured that all Covid-19 patients of this cluster have been admitted to the Sarikei Hospital and the Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC) for isolation and treatment purposes.

The Sungai Setajam Cluster today marks the 100th active cluster in the whole of Sarawak as of today, as no clusters of previous days were declared to be expired today. — DayakDaily
