KUCHING, Oct 10: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has commended Sarawak for its proactive investment in the sports sector and for consistently collaborating with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS).

According to a TVS news report, Yeoh stated that Sarawak’s initiative and willingness to cooperate with KBS in hosting various sports events and tournaments set a positive example for other states to follow.

“We are very pleased that Sarawak is so proactive in working with KBS to organise several sporting games and championships because they have great locations and facilities,” she was quoted as saying.

“The challenge now is whether other states will come forward to collaborate with KBS. We cannot rely solely on Sarawak to provide this support.”

Yeoh further noted that sports is a field in which state governments can play a prominent role, contributing not only to tourism promotion but also to boosting the local economy.

Sarawak has previously demonstrated its strong commitment by hosting the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA 2024, and is also prepared to co-host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in 2027. — DayakDaily
