KUCHING, June 24: Kapit Division will take centre stage as the main host of the fourth series of the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme, scheduled from June 26 to 28, in a move aimed at strengthening government engagement with the people while highlighting the division’s strategic role in Sarawak’s development.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news, Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said organising the programme in Kapit provides residents with direct access to information on government policies, assistance schemes and development initiatives, including free higher education, community aid and digital services provided by the Sarawak government.

“At the same time, SKS in Kapit also showcases the high potential of the division, which I consider the powerhouse of Sarawak,” he said, referring to Kapit’s role as home to the Murum and Bakun hydroelectric dams, as well as the upcoming Baleh Dam.

Meanwhile, Kapit Division Resident Elvis Didit said public response to the programme has been highly encouraging, with all 50 food and beverage business lots fully taken up in a short period.

“The involvement of entrepreneurs is very encouraging. Another section is for handicrafts and local products such as kelulut honey and others,” he said.

He added that the strong participation reflects the local business community’s enthusiasm in leveraging SKS as a platform to promote their products and expand market opportunities.

They highlighted these during an appearance on Juh Randau Ukas at the Ukas Studio on Wednesday (June 24).

The official opening of SKS Kapit will be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on June 27, where he is expected to deliver an address and attend various programme activities.

The three-day event will also feature the Sarawak Pavilion, Kapit Kitchen, folk sports, cultural performances, and e-peraduan lucky draws, making it a comprehensive platform that blends governance, entrepreneurship and community engagement. — DayakDaily
