KUCHING, March 30: Sarawak will be making its debut at the world’s leading business events tradeshow with its own stand-alone pavilion at IMEX Frankfurt, Germany from May 23 to 25 this year.
In revealing this, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said delegates will highlight economic sectors targeted for growth by the Sarawak government, with several talking points at the tradeshow.
He elaborated that among the four talking points would be Sarawak’s Post-Covid Development Strategy, the Legacy Impact Master Action Plan as announced by the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability on their commitment to Sarawak’s local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and NGOs, and on Kuching as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.
“This year, we have decided to be on the other side of the fence and join the show floor to strengthen Sarawak’s presence in the global business events market, and position ourselves as an international destination for legacy, thought leadership and innovation,” Abdul Karim told reporters during the press conference on Sarawak’s participation at the event today.
He revealed that the pavilion’s name this year would be ‘Tribe Legacy
Sarawak’, and the theme is ‘Business Events Support Community Development’, .
The pavilion will be set up and manned by the Sarawak Business Events team.
IMEX Frankfurt is the annual meeting point for business events and about 3,000 decision-makers and global sector leaders are expected to attend the show.
“We want to leverage this footfall and raise awareness about Sarawak, connect with new international counterparts and clinch more quality leads,” he said.
The pavilion will feature industry partners such as Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Pullman Kuching, Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel, Hemisphere Corporation, ARC Creators and Place Borneo as well as CPH Travel Agencies.
“The pavilion will be a yearly affair at IMEX Frankfurt, and we hope that with a consistent presence, Sarawak will become the preferred destination for business events.
“We are fully invested in business events as a business and collaboration platform to address economic, social and governance.” he said.
IMEX stands for Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings, and Events.
