Minister: Kuching records highest number of Endowment Fund applications with 1,046 in 2023

KUCHING, March 30: Kuching has recorded the highest number of Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS) applications with a total of 1,046 applications as of Feb 28, 2023.

Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said based on statistics, Sibu has the second highest number of applications with 747, followed by Miri (556), Bintulu (332), Limbang (170), Mukah (149), Serian (146), Betong (127), Sarikei (126), Samarahan (121), Samarahan (121) and Sri Aman (82).

“For the same period, the overall application for EFS throughout Sarawak was only 66 per cent.


“As such, KPWK will continue to implement efforts to promote the Sarawak Endowment Fund through collaboration with strategic partners through an outreach programme together with Mother and Child Clinic in hospitals throughout the region,” she told a press conference after chairing EFS Committee Meeting held at Baitulmakmur Building 2, here today.

Meanwhile, Fatimah said since EFS was implemented in 2019 until Feb 28, 2023, a total of 86,095 EFS accounts have been opened involving an allocation of RM86.09 million.

She also said applications can still be done manually at all 52 branches of the National Registration Department (JPN) in Sarawak, while for applicants outside of Sarawak, applications can be made by sending all the necessary documents to to the birth, death and adoption division of the Sarawak JPN headquarters.

“For anomalies which involve application for EFS after more than one year after the child’s birth, it will be treated on a case-by-case basis and presented to our special committee for discussion,” she added.
