Sarawak registers 3,724 daily infections with nine categorised as critical

KUCHING, Sept 21: Sarawak registered 3,724 new Covid-19 infections today with nine cases or 0.24 per cent being categorised as critical.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the nine cases, three patients (0.08 per cent) in Category 3 developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own, three patients (0.08 per cent) in Category 4 need oxygen supply, and three Category 5 patients (0.08 per cent) need a ventilator to breathe.

Meanwhile, the remaining 3,715 new cases or 99.76 per cent are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

“There are 1,836 cases (49.30 per cent) in Category 1 while 1,879 cases (50.46 per cent) are in Category 2,” it said.

SDMC also revealed that by district, Kuching had the most number of cases with 1,509, followed by five districts with triple-digit cases namely Sibu (372), Bintulu (249), Samarahan (224), Miri (202) and Sri Aman (161).

The districts which reported double-digit cases include Betong (89), Sarikei (88), Serian (79), Limbang (77), Bau (71), Asajaya (66), Lundu (55), Belaga (51), Kapit (47), Pusa (46), Meradong (43), Saratok (41), Mukah (31), Song (29), Pakan (26), Lubok Antu (26), Subis (24), Sebauh (18), Tatau (17), Daro (16), Selangau (11) and Simunjan (10).

The districts with single-digit cases were Tebedu with nine cases, Kabong (7), Lawas (5), Matu (5), Julau (5), Marudi (4), Dalat (3), Beluru (3), Bukit Mabong (3) and Kanowit (2).

As of today, the Covid-19 death toll in Sarawak stands at 709. – DayakDaily
