KUCHING, Nov 21: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has arrived in Bali, Indonesia, to attend the 41st Conference of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 41).
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Premier arrived at the hotel at 1.40pm local time.
Accompanying him were Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar and other government officers.
The opening ceremony of the three-day conference from Nov 20-23 will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre tomorrow (Nov 22), where Abang Johari will be awarded the ‘Honorary Fellow’ title.
This special recognition is selectively reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the engineering profession, institutional advancement, and important national endeavours.
The conference will bring together more than 1,000 delegates, acting as a platform for engineers, professionals, and experts from 10 ASEAN countries to exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices in the engineering field.
For the record, Indonesia became the 10th country in Asia to host this year’s conference with the theme ‘Igniting ASEAN’s Blue Economy and Green Energy’.
The Premier of Sarawak is also scheduled to participate in the ASEAN Ministerial Forum held in Bali. — DayakDaily
