Sarawak govt to provide RM1.3 mln for SGH to install 36 ventilator points

KUCHING, May 1: The Sarawak government will provide Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) with RM1.3 million to add 36 ventilator points at the hospital immediately.

Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian in a Facebook post today said the fund is for SGH’s request for renovation of extra ventilator points.


“SGH currently has 72 ventilator points.

“Sarawak Government will support SGH request for renovations of another 36 ventilator points at RM1.3 million immediately.

“As Health is under Federal Government, together with SGH, we will fight for RM23 million allocation needed for full fledge 36 beds Intensive Care Unit (ICU),” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim made a working visit to SGH today together with Assistant Minister of Islamic Affairs and DBKU Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Earlier, Dr Sim and Dr Abdul Rahman made a working visit to Medi Hotel which is located adjacent to SGH to check on the facilities there.

The hotel will have 160 rooms which will provide additional rooms for quarantine for Covid-19.

Among those who followed Dr Sim and Dr Abdul Rahman during their working visit were SGH director Dr Ngien Hie Ung, Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Sarawak director Khirudin Drahman, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) senior officers and officers from SGH. — DayakDaily
