KUCHING, Feb 6: The Sarawak government plans to build a new water plant in Landeh, with the aim of enhancing the production capacity of the water supply in the city and its surrounding districts.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg highlighted that the initiative also meets the growing demand from industry and population growth in the State.

“We expect the population here to continue to grow and various industries to grow in the next few years.

“Therefore, we have taken steps to ensure sufficient water supply for the surrounding area and nearby districts.

“The proposed water treatment plant will play an important role in increasing capacity and meeting the growing needs of the community,” he told reporters during a press conference held today after officiating the IBS factory at the LCDA CTR Technology Sdn Bhd building here.

Furthermore, the Premier stated that the state government has consistently prioritised the State’s development and the well-being of its people, without regard for political agendas.

“We are not involved in politics here (like other states) because we are too busy focusing on important infrastructure projects, including affordable housing, water, and electricity supply, as well as road and bridge construction,” he added. — DayakDaily
