KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7: Zecon Bhd’s (Zecon) application for an electric license to generate solar power to supply electricity at the Kota Petra Green Technology Park in Kuching under the Sarawak Electricity Ordinance has been approved by the Sarawak government.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Zecon said the licence shall be for 30 years with an annual fee of RM300,000, effective Feb 5, 2025.
During the duration of this licence, the rights granted include designing, constructing, installing, using, operating, and maintaining a solar photovoltaic (PV) system for solar power generation within a 3,000-acre area in the Salak Land district of Kuching.
“This also covers the transmission and distribution of electricity, including lines, towers, and substations to non-domestic consumers under this licence.
“[Also included are] the installation of a 300-megawatt alternating current power plant, including a solar PV module system, inverter-based units, a transformer substation and electrical works, to generate and supply solar power to non-domestic consumers within the scheduled area,” it added, according to Bernama.
At the time of writing, Zecon shares were one sen or 2.08 per cent higher at 49 sen, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM72.75 million. — DayakDaily
