Sarawak extends CMCO for 8th time until May 10

CMCO in Sarawak extended for the eighth time, until May 10.

KUCHING, April 24: The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Sarawak has been extended for the eighth time from April 27 to May 10 as the Covid-19 situation has not improved.

In a statement today, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said it has decided to extend the CMCO for another two weeks starting April 27, 12.01 am until May 10, 11.59 pm

The decision was made by SDMC following a risk assessment on the rising number of Covid-19 cases.


The seventh CMCO, from April 13 was scheduled to end on April 26 (Monday).

The sixth CMCO in Sarawak was implemented from March 29 until April 12 while the fifth was from March 16 to 29, fourth from March 2 to 15, third Feb 15 to March 1, second Feb 1 to Feb 14 and first Jan 18 to Jan 31.

Since Jan 18, 2021, SDMC has been implementing CMCO for the whole of Sarawak due to the high number of Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded five Covid-19 fatalities and 570 new cases today with Bintulu topping the list of daily infections with 128 cases followed by Kapit (109), Kuching (76), Sibu (54), Song (45), Subis (29), Serian (26), Bukit Mabong (16), Tatau (14), Miri (11), Kanowit and Belaga (10 each), Lundu, Mukah and Samarahan (9 each), Sarikei (5), Bau (3), Tebedu (2) while Beluru, Saratok, Meradong, Betong and Selangau has one case each.
This, thus, increased the state tally to 27,319 and death toll to 153. — DayakDaily
