Sarawak Energy honours 369 retired employees at annual dinner

KUCHING, Oct 26: A total of 369 Sarawak Energy retirees who have collectively contributed 12,941 years of service to the Company were honoured during an annual dinner.

Sarawak Energy, in a statement today, said during its 2024 Retirees Dinner on Oct 18, its group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili said that, on average, each retiree contributed 35 years of service, providing the foundation for Sarawak Energy’s continued growth and guiding the current employees towards excellence.

“Much of our success is due to the hard work of both past and present employees. Thanks to the commitment and dedication of our people, we have made great strides in electrifying Sarawak and transforming our energy landscape.

“From expanding rural electrification to pioneering innovations, each achievement reflects their invaluable contributions,” he said.

He added that the retirees’ legacy continues to inspire the Company’s 6,000-strong workforce, largely comprised of Sarawakians.

“This enduring legacy showcases the talent and resilience that drives the company toward its aspiration of becoming a regional renewable energy powerhouse, with a focus on sustainable growth,” he said.

Meanwhile, acknowledging the retirees’ continued value, Sharbini hoped that their wealth of experience and knowledge would continue to benefit the next generation of Sarawak Energy employees.

He also said that the current workforce has greatly benefited from the example set by those who came before them.
