DARO, Nov 5: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has hinted that Daro incumbent Safiee Ahmad will be defending his seat in the coming State Election.

Responding to a reporter’s query, Abang Johari said he has yet to finalise the list of candidates as he is still discussing the matter with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties.

“However, this Daro constituency is represented by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and I believe the incumbent (Safiee) has done a good job in serving the people.

“Therefore, I think it is not wrong for us to nominate him again in the coming State polls,” he said at a press conference after an official event held at Daro Community Hall here today.

Safiee won the Daro seat under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket during the 2016 State Election with 4,432 majority votes against Ibrahim Bayau of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah). — DayakDaily
