Both winners collected their prize money of RM7,000, medals, and trophies from the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, at the prize presentation ceremony at a hotel last night (Oct 27).

Snowdan represented the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta 2024 also celebrated its tenth anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony.

Earlier, Snowdan, who read Abdul Karim’s speech, lauded the organiser for making the event a success as it had attracted 61 teams of 2,066 paddlers from 21 countries.

“This prestigious event will help promote Kuching as a gateway to Sarawak, known as the Land of the Hornbill loaded with plenty of heritage, culture, and cuisine to discover.”

He added that the ministry has always been generous in supporting regional and international events.

“Events like this are important in helping boost local businesses, fill hotel capacity, and raise the image and visibility of the destination.”

He urged international participants and those from other states in Malaysia to explore Kuching and other parts of Sarawak.

“We have so many attractions to offer as we always promote Sarawak as our proud destination in terms of unique culture, adventure, nature, food, and festivals,” he said. — DayakDaily
