KUCHING, Nov 18: SaraWorks Sdn Bhd has identified an alternative route for road users while investigations are being carried out on the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) fire incident in Lawas.

“As the affected stretch is temporarily closed until further notice, we have since identified an alternative route and upgraded the road, which is now open for all road users of the surrounding communities,” the company said in a statement today.

It further stated that its sub-contractor Kimlun Sdn Bhd and consultant, Perunding Irzi, would cooperate with all relevant authorities and stakeholders to investigate the incident thoroughly.

“We appeal to the general public to bear with us during this crisis and to give us full cooperation at the affected location in ensuring safe and smooth traffic diversion,” it added.

The company also expressed regret over the unforeseen fire incident on Nov 16 at KP132 of the SSGP, which is in the vicinity of the CH18+400 Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project, which led to a fatality and three injured victims.

It pledged to look into the victims’ requirements for medical assistance and financial assistance for their immediate families. — DayakDaily
