Road closures on Oct 2 to make way for Kuching Marathon 2022

KUCHING, Sept 26: More than 10,000 runners from local and overseas will be thronging the city to take part in the Kuching Marathon 2022 (KM2022) this Sunday (Oct 2), resulting in several road closures in and around the city.

According to a road closure notice, the roads affected are Jalan Padungan, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Lebuh Temple, and Lebuh Wayang (closed from 2am to 8am); Jalan McDougall (closed from 12am to 8am); Jalan Haji Taha (closed from 12am to 8am); Jalan P Ramlee (closed from 12am to 8am); and Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Market, Jalan Gambir, Jalan Gartak, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Jalan Masjid, Jalan Barrack, and Jalan Wawasan (closed from 12am to 9am).

“You will get to witness the world class runners passing by your areas, and this is an opportunity for you to witness their fast pace of running style as well as runners running in big groups.


“Hence, we encourage you to be there to welcome and to cheer them on to show the hospitality of Kuchingites.

“Nevertheless, we thank you for your understanding of the road closures and regret for any inconvenience that may cause,” said the notice.

KM2022 is an international-level marathon organised by the Kuching Marathon Association (KMA) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak.

Local and international participants will take part in the Full Marathon (42km), Half-Marathon (21km), and Fun Run (10km and 5km).

KM2022 will be in its 7th year since its inauguration in 2014. — DayakDaily
