RM200,000 drainage upgrade to tackle recurring flash floods in Siburan

SIBURAN, June 23: The RM200,000 drainage improvement project at Lorong 8, Siburan Village, seeks to resolve recurring flash flood issues while enhancing the area’s drainage capacity and overall living conditions for residents.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the project is under the 2027 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) conducted in collaboration with the Siburan District Council (SDC) for the Mambong constituency.

A site visit was led by Siburan District Officer and SDC chairman Ranum Bari, together with Keron Mapus, special administrative officer to the Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak and the assemblyman for Mambong, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.

The visit was conducted to identify the actual upgrading requirements, including technical aspects and the preparation of the Bill of Quantities (BQ), before the projects are implemented.

Meanwhile, a visit was also made to the Siburan Basketball Hall, which is expected to undergo an upgrading project with an allocation of RM200,000.

The basketball hall upgrading project is considered important in providing the local community with more comfortable, safer, and higher-quality sports facilities, while encouraging greater participation in sports and recreational activities.

The initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring that infrastructure and public facilities in rural areas are continuously improved to meet the needs of the people and enhance the quality of life of local communities. — DayakDaily
