KUCHING, Oct 4: Qualified tenants who are renting in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri can now apply for the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS).
Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC) in a notice said the scheme will provide an assistance of RM200 per month for 36 months (maximum three years).
The SRAS is meant to assist the low income group and those affected by the Covid-19.
Malaysian citizens and permanent residents in Sarawak with ‘K’ status on their MyKad; aged 21-years-old and above; with household income not exceeding RM2,131 per month can apply.
Single parents with at least one child living with him or her; and those currently renting a premise or house that does not belong to them are encouraged to apply.
Priority will also be given to people with disabilities (OKU).
Applicants are required to complete the application form which can be obtained at HDC offices or website http://hdc.sarawak.gov.my and they can return all the documents to HDC offices in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu or Miri.
Among the supporting documents needed to include in the application form are a copy each of marriage or divorce certificate; MyKad (applicant and spouse); birth certificate/MyKid/MyKad of the dependent child living with the applicant; salary statement showing gross monthly income of the head of household or spouse and OKU card for OKU applicants.
A copy of signed and stamped rental agreement, consent letter from the premise owner for applicant to participate in SRAS and pictures of rented premise are also needed for the application.
