RM25 mln-wave breaker project in Kuala Baram on schedule for yearend completion

MIRI, Oct 4: Minister for Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin is satisfied with the progress of a wave breaker project worth RM25 million at Kampung Batu 1, in Kuala Baram.

According to Lee, the 200-metre-long wave breaker project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022, and is currently at 30 per cent completion.


“The construction of the project which commenced on Nov last year (2020) is progressing well,” said Lee when met by reporters after inspecting the project site today.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Miri divisional engineer Hiew Si Tien and Kampung Kuala Batu 1 village chief Mohd Yusuf Sulaiman, together with the project consultant.

Lee who is also theSenadin assemblyman revealed that the completed project would benefit more than 200 traditional fishermen at Kampung Kuala Batu 1 and prevent coastal erosion and floods in the area. — DayakDaily
