KUCHING, Nov 19: Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem opines Serian district is one of the luckiest in the country that is provided with various facilities and infrastructure by the government to benefit the local community.
According to Riot, among the developments brought by the government to the district are the Serian Industrial Training Institute (ILP), Serian Health Clinic (Type 3), and a new primary school, Sk Sri Sadong.
“Most important to me is the Serian ILP, and I would want more youth to be involved in skills training,” he told reporters after visiting the SMK Serian carpark upgrading project, today.
Riot noted Serian ILP was his baby back then because he had fought very hard for it during his tenure as the Minister of Human Resources.
He said it was supposed to be completed on Dec 31, 2020, but was extended due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“We hope it would be completed by the mid of 2022, and once it is completed, it would provide the opportunity for Sarawakian youth to excel in industrial skills,” added Riot.
Meanwhile, Riot said the construction of Type-3 Serian Health Clinic will complement and also reduce the congestion of patients seeking medical treatment in Serian Hospital.
“To me, the clinic is equivalent to a hospital, except that it has no facilities for people to be warded, and for the new primary school, SMK Sri Sadong, I believe that the tender will be out in the coming two or three months,” he said. –DayakDaily.
